Magenta Base Camp
Magenta Base Camp
The Project
In partnership with T-Mobile and the National Parks Foundation, I creative directed Magenta Basecamp — a large-scale environmental installation built inside Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Station in celebration of Earth Day. The centerpiece mountain started in my hands: I sculpted the form in clay, scanned it to generate the 3D model, and built the renderings myself before it ever became a structure. In its final form, a cascading waterfall facade anchors a photo moment for thousands of daily commuters, while behind the mountain, guests step inside a projection dome where immersive footage, live-shot on location inside the national parks, wraps around them completely. A bulletin board, a Base Camp Visitor Center with customizable hat patches, and T-Mobile's Starlink-powered promise of connectivity anywhere inside the parks rounded out a world designed to do one thing: give New Yorkers a moment to feel free to wander.
